First Day of School!

My little limon has always been excited to go to school. When we would go to fill out paperwork at the school to enroll him he would love to see all the kids in a single line or on the playground and would constantly tell me that he wanted to play with them. The week before he started he went with his babysitter to take Omar (her son) to his first day of Kindergarden. Which ended up helping Omar because he didn't feel alone going into the classroom because lil limon was right next to him playing with the toys and reading the books. Even when the teacher wanted all of the kids on the carpet little adrian went with all the rest. Jaja. When I picked lil limon from the sitter he kept on telling me that he wanted to go with Omar. They are a good 5 months apart but because little limon was born in November he must wait another year to start K-4. If not I would of loved for them to go to school together.

So when the day finally came for his first day of school, he was so excited. He woke up very happy running all over the house and even running upstairs with cousins and godparents to tell them all at literally 7:00 a.m. that he was going to school. He asked me over and over and over again if he was going to school. He was so excited that practically he pushed us out the door, so we arrived early. Limon, Adriancito and I were one of the first families to arrive and by the time all the kids were situated he was ready to leave. He eventually realized that I was going to leave and would not let me out of his sight. We stood around for a good twenty minutes along with other parents having a hard time. Once the teacher distracted all the kids in another room, we all headed for the door. Limon took me out to eat to distract me from thinking about little limon and then made a stop to our favorite store ~Target~. At pick up time the teacher told me he cried for a while after I left. It's so sad just thinking of him crying all by himself but, im sure he got over it beacuse he sure was dancing away to music at the end of class when I showed up.

Thank god Limon had the day off to go with me. I literally cried the whole week before him starting school, i couldn't sleep and was not even enthusiastic about starting my own semester in school because my little one was going to school and Limon was always there to comfort me. I don't understand why it was so hard and very emotional for me. It was definitely a sensitive subject for me, I couldn't talk about it with anyone without tears trying to come out. Hence, me not blogging about this earlier. I've spent the past 3 almost four years of my life revolving around my little boy. And just the thought of letting him go with a complete stranger is hard. It's a crazy world out there. Thankfully I am very content with the school and teachers he has.

With each day it got easier and now right after we arrive he's ready to give me my hug and kiss goodbye and kick out of the classroom. :)

Summer Snapshots

Every year we try to take a vacation, this year (so far) we haven’t other than our camping trips. Since I again have not kept up with my blogging responsibilities, I have accumulated some photos of our summer here in Milwaukee.

First stop Susan G Komen’s Race for the Cure and Betty Brinn. In May, we tried to complete this race but it was just too cold for all of us. So instead we kept warm at Betty Brinn Children’s Museum. We were on the bus and Adriancito was driving. All Aboard!

Father’s Day!

Adriancito putting water on his grandfather’s grave site. More like drowning the flowers because he loved doing it so much.

This summer we spent the majority of our weekends at the park due to Limon’s baseball games. GO BUENAVISTA!

The ZOO!

One day in order to keep my child from trying to get me to buy him a $39.00 stuffed animal zebra at some fancy children’s store downtown. I told him we could go and look at real zebras at the zoo. For the next two weeks we didn’t hear the end of it until his wish came true.

                      First Merry-Go-Round Ride

Great choice he made – the jiraffe.

                 His favorite,  The Elephant!!

At his first brewers game. We spent more time at Bernie’s Clubhouse then actually watching the game but well worth it. He loved it. Note that he likes hot dogs.

We also took two camping trips and more but I haven't put my photography skills to too much use this summer. So this post to be continued until I hunt down more pictures of our fantabulous summer.

Summer Cold

A couple of days ago, Lil Limon woke up from a long nap and after struggling to wake him up, he finally woke up and with a fever. Hardly even responsive, I managed to move him from the bed to the couch. Since it usually takes him a while to wake up. But my little boy was not feeling well because he didn't get up from the couch the whole afternoon. He was laying in and out of sleep. He refused pedialyte, juice, food, soup, tv and even a trip to Target. Which he never turns down. He slept it off all day and night and woke up feeling better.

His cold came a couple of days after me and mon meet a couple of friends for dinner and Limon stated that we've been so lucky with Adriancito not getting sick this past year since we had his skin problems.

I'm glad he feels better because really who wants to have a fever in the middle of summer. It really does suck because it's so hot out and the a/c unit and fans I have to turn off because it will just make it worse. Today my little lemon is as good as new.

Overhearing a conversation on the playground yesterday...

Parent #1: Doesn't anybody know where the parents of this kid are at?
Where are your parents?
Boy: (Shrugs his shoulders and looks down)
Parent #1: Does anyone know who his parent is?
Another boy on playground: That's his dad
Parent # 1: Hey he's scratching up my kid
Parent # 2: Oh is he? I'm sorry, you know what, I apologize...
Parent # 1: Yeah okay
(To this son) Next time you defend yourself! You punch him in the face!
(Walks away swearing)
Parent # 2: Devin come here!
Boy walks over
Parent # 2: It's okay, he doesn't know your autistic.. It's okay just don't touch anyone..

I'm dreading for adriancito to start school, wish i could keep him with me forever..

Snow Day!!!

This is probably news to no one but a huge storm hit Milwaukee Monday – Wednesday last week.

I always look at weather reports and think the meteorologist is full of bologna because half of the time it’s exaggerated or they get it all wrong. When I heard that I would be one of the biggest winter storms, I didn’t take it with all seriousness. Having been in a car accident during another Winter Storm in 2005, I do take driving in the snow seriously. Actually I’m terrified of it because of it.

Although classes were cancelled on Tuesday night. I was determined to go to work on Wednesday, with me cutting my hours at work so I can concentrate more on school. Missing a day was not an option.. I needed the money. If Limon was off then the little one could stay home and I’ll just walk. I’ve done it before in storms and done fine. But when I woke up and looked out my front window and saw this…

I knew whether I liked it or not I was staying home, it was too high. Really the pictures do it no justice. Only actually going out there you can really see how high the snow was compared to your body. Our back door was to my knees and the back garage to the top of my head. It was insane and yes the car underneath all of that snow, behind the pick up is our Volkswagen.

I got little Limon ready to head out and sent him out with his father to “help”. He loved grabbing piles of snow and acting like he was cleaning it up. Fifteen minutes later I came outside bundled up and started helping Limon shovel. Ten minutes later, lil lemon had enough of the snow. He starting crying begging for juice and a nap. So in he went and I came back out until our landlord came out. One thing about lil Adrian he hates to get dirty or wet so playing in the snow is a little bit of a difficult task.

This is on his way back into the house. Before A warm bed and a cup of chocolate milk.

My beautiful work in shoveling

And this is BefoP2021076re making a walk way to our garage. I have to hand it to Limon. He and my uncle were out there for about four hours and everything was so clean. He made sure to clean out the back of the garage so that I don’t have any problems getting in and out with the car. Limon worked so hard. I was so proud of him. And on top of that I had the stomach flu so he was helping me out with Lil Lemon and walking to the store to get something to calm my upset tummy. At one point I looked outside and saw Limon with a beer in his hand talking to our neighbors. Ha! They try to find any reason to congregate and have a beer. Especially in the summer time.

As for me I spent almost the whole week on the couch watching tv because I was sick. Not being able to hold any food down and nauseous. After going on the internet I self diagnosed myself. It’s really hard for me to stay laying down, I still got up to do chores but ultimately my tummy  won and I always ended up sitting down because moving around was too nauseating.

Wednesday was relaxing. But Thursday was not,  I needed to go to school, we needed to suck it up and eventually face the roads.  I took the little one to the sitter and got stuck. Finally I got out with the help of a lovely neighbor named Gary and was on my way to school. I went and was so surprised that it was dead. Usually it’s rush hour. People at every street corner crossing streets or waiting for the busses. Herds of people walking outside and inside the buildings but none of that on Thursday. My first thought was I should’ve stayed home. Still not feeling well and dealing with the bad roads and getting stuck was no fun. And my second thought was that they should’ve cancelled classes all together because the roads were horrible. I know people probably will beg to differ but at UWM It was impossible for two passing cars to fit on one road and likewise on my block.

I am upset with the plowing on the Milwaukee’s Southside. They do a horrible job and only pass that one day. :( the city doesn’t care about us (tear).  I’m also upset that I didn’t get to fully enjoy my snow day because i was sick.

Little Adrian loved looking and playing in the snow although it was short lived because after his nap he played with younger cousins all afternoon inside. Being snowed in though is nice, it gives you that break needed from the outside world.

New year, New everything!!

I have spent the greater part of this year calm and collected but with the new year here there are plenty of changes headed our way. Career choices for both me and Limon. Adriansito potty training and hopefully starting preschool in the fall. We have officially decided to get married in upcoming 2012 and Limon's car is not working very well. Just add in school, bills and cleaning and I need a stress reliever and fast. On a side note Packers made the playoffs so we shall see what will happen on Sunday.

I have to admit that we have been splurging a lot with our money... eating out and buying things that are totally unnecessary. We really need to cut back.. but it's hard with lemonhead he likes the finer things in life and lately I haven't been so disciplined with my spending. So for the new year my resolution is to save, save and save some more. I have to admit we did very well with our spending for Christmas gifts. We went for something cute but small. I've also decided to work out a little, my energy is horrible, I'm always tired maybe because the little one is a sleepwalker but I'm hoping that will boost it up. Plus loosing some weight in the tummy area will help. I want to be able to fit in swim suit with no worries. Since I have always been a thin girl, I've never had to workout so we'll see how this goes.

My little lemondhead loved christmas.. This year we over celebrated christmas. We went over my mother and Limon's mom's then within the next couple of days we went over the babysitter, our friends and my brother's home. The other day he looked at me and said "Mom I want presents" (in spanish). Like I carry them in my back pocket for him to open. I told him he was crazy like George Lopez says "Tas loco".
